Senator Murphy's view on Gov. Quinn's budget address |
|
Yesterday, Governor Quinn gave his second budget address since assuming
office last year. Just as he did last year, Governor Quinn stated that
job creation is a priority and state government needs to cut spending.
I absolutely agree with these statements. I believe we can have no
higher priority than putting people back to work. When people work,
our families do better, as do our state's budget and those who rely on
it. I stand ready to work to improve our jobs climate by getting our
budget under control, without more borrowing and higher taxes. We need
to reduce spending, while targeting the approximately $55 billion
Illinois government will spend next year on our priorities.
