PALATINE, Ill. – Illinois’ military personnel, active duty and National Guard members who are currently deployed or recently returned from active duty are eligible to receive free tax preparation, according to State Sen. Matt Murphy (R-Palatine).

“We must provide every opportunity possible to help out our servicemen and women,” Murphy said. “It is my hope that our soldiers, sailors and airmen will be able to use this free service. I want to thank the members of the Illinois CPA Society who are donating their time for this noble cause.”

The 24,000 members of the Illinois CPA Society are showing their appreciation for the dedicated men and women of the U.S. military by offering free personal tax preparation services to anyone who is deployed or recently returned from a combat zone or other qualified hazardous duty area. CPA Society members will match service personnel with local tax preparers to find full tax benefits, exclusions, filing and payment extensions available to qualified individuals. Service personnel are encouraged to use this service if they do not have an existing relationship with a tax professional. The service is available year-round to service personnel and family members.
