The General Assembly Scholarship Program is administered in accordance with the provisions of Section 5/30-9 of the School Code of Illinois. Senator Murphy awards Illinois General Assembly Scholarships to students who have been active in public and civic affairs and who have need of scholarship assistance. The awards are applicable at the following Illinois state universities.
- Illinois State University
- Chicago State University
- Northern Illinois University
- Western Illinois University
- Eastern Illinois University
- Governor State University
- Southern Illinois University, Carbondale
- Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville
- Northeastern Illinois University
- University of Illinois, Springfield
- University of Illinois, Chicago
- University of Illinois, Urbana - Champaign
- University of Illinois, School of Medicine
- Southern Illinois University School of Medicine
Both graduate and undergraduate level study are acceptable. However, all scholarships are for tuition only for one academic year.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Be a resident in the 27th Senate District.
- Acceptance at the university of one's choice.
- Evidence of activity in public and civic affairs.
- Relative financial need among applicants.

Senator Murphy has established a Scholarship Advisory Committee made up of educators from throughout the 27th Senate District to review all applications and select the scholarship recipients.

DEADLINE
Applications must be received in the Senator's office by April 16, 2010 or postmarked by April 16, 2010. Notification of scholarship awards will be made in the summer of 2010.
